Eligible employees in Hays County are provided a wide range of benefits. Several of the programs are available to all employees as prescribed by law. Such programs include Social Security, Medicare, Workers’ Compensation and unemployment insurance. Eligibility for other benefits is dependent upon the regular number of hours an employee is expected to work each week.

Afflack - Offers supplemental insurance for individuals and family members. 

MetLife – Hays County provides a basic life insurance policy in the amount of $25,000 to all eligible employees. Also available at no cost to the employee, with the Employer paid basic life, are several additional benefits: Will/Estate Planning, Funeral Planning, Grief Counseling.

The Yarbrough Agency - Offers Term Life, Whole Life and Vision insurance.


Retirement Accounts

VALIC 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan – This is an opportunity to take advantage of tax-deferred income for retirement. 


Additional Programs

Hays County offers eligible employees an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for confidential support, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The Quit For Life program provides information regarding tobacco cessation methods and related well-being support.

Care24 Services lets you speak directly with an experienced registered nurse or master’s-level counselor any time and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Real Appeal is a weight management program that includes a mobile app.
